The process is already integral, Jones Healthcare says, to its medication adherence packaging.

Editor’s Take: Thermoforming can create opportunities to support customers with specialized formats.
Jones Healthcare Group acquired an operational thermoforming facility, and its related business assets, in Brampton, Ontario as of Aug. 1. Site operations, run by an experienced team, will continue under the Jones Healthcare name.
For Jones Healthcare, this adds in-house production of custom-formed packaging components to its integrated offering.
The company says thermoforming is crucial to its medication adherence packaging—with formed blisters organizing medications by dose and time. Thermoforming also supports blister-and-backer-card formats. These secure small, cylindrical convenience or travel vials, used for products such as solid-dose medications.
Not only will bringing these capabilities in-house strengthen production control and coordination, Jones Healthcare says, it also supports continued development. Materials innovation and design enhancements improving handling and ease of use will be made easier.
Moreover, the company says, thermoforming creates opportunities to support customers, either current or prospective, with specialized formats. These include custom blisters, trays and inserts for kitting and assembly, retail-ready packaging, and certain other components.
Jones Healthcare President and CEO Ron Harris said customers want packaging partners managing more of the process, with fewer handoffs.
“Bringing thermoforming in-house strengthens important areas of our existing business,” Harris said. “[It] gives our teams greater opportunity to innovate and creates new possibilities for customers across health, wellness and nutrition. It is a complementary capability that makes our broader portfolio more connected and more valuable.”
Specifically concerning convenience-vial packaging, the acquisition complements Jones Healthcare’s planned installation of an additional bottle and vial line this year.
Overall, the acquisition adds to Jones Healthcare’s existing expertise in printed packaging components, contract packaging services, and medication dispensing solutions.
